On Jul. 1, a new cafe-bar specializing in dishes made using Kyushu-grown veggies opened inside the JR Hakata Station building. Vegebal Kyushu’s vegetables are selected by Mercato, and come mainly from Fukutsu and Munakata. Fukuoka Now’s Nick went to check it out, here’s what he found…
The white tones and greenery lend the cafe a fresh, airy feel during the day, and at night the venue becomes a bar. The Custom Salad Lunch (¥980~) comes with one drink and all-you-can-eat bread from Orto’s Bakery Cosses.
The dinner menu is mainly tapas-style, ranging from simple veggie fritters to shirasu (whitebait) with pea sprout ajillo (¥580).
Customers can also buy Orto’s bread and spread to take home.
