Fukuoka City announced on July 19 their plans to open a large-scale commercial facility on the 8-hectare plot of land of the former Hakata-ku Naka Seika Ichiba (fruit and vegetable market). A new branch of the children’s theme park Kidzania, which is managed by Tokyo-based KCJ GROUP, is scheduled to open towards the end of 2021. Kidzania theme parks are already set up in Tokyo and Hyogo, but this will be the first time it will open in Kyushu. Fukuoka City selected a group of companies consisting of Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Kyuden), and Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co., Ltd. (Nishitetsu) to operate the site. Space will also be made available for local events such as club activities and festivals. Source: Sankei Biz, 7/20/2018
