Charles has been drinking and enjoying wine for over 13 years and even has his own private collection of 500+ bottles of vintage wines. Currently he and his partner, Tomas Marin, import wines directly from Spain, particularly the Ribera Del Duero and Toro regions. Charles is also pursuing a Certified Wine Educator Diploma from The Society of Wine Educators. Although he’s an admitted oenophile, wine isn’t his only passion; Charles is an avid surfer and in the winter he spends most of his time guiding snowboarders and skiers into the backcountry chutes and bowls of Hakuba, Nagano. You can find Charles behind the counter bar at Los Picaros, inside the Spanish restaurant Ibizarte in Yakuin on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Stop by and enjoy a glass or two. He loves people who are interested in learning about the wonders of the vine. “Wine isn’t a snobbish affair… you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy a great glass of wine”.
