Independent Investigators Find Gov. Furukawa Asked Kyushu Electric to Send E-mails

An independent investigative committee released an interim report stating that Saga Prefecture Gov. Yasushi Furukawa asked Kyushu Electric Power to send e-mails supporting the resumption of two reactors at the Genkai-cho nuclear power plant in the prefecture. Kyushu Electric has already admitted to ordering employees to impersonate regular citizens and send e-mails to an online town-hall meeting supporting the resumption of operations. The committee did not accuse Gov. Furukawa of asking the utility to send bogus e-mails, but merely asking it to send e-mails. Mr. Furukawa has already denied that he suggested fake e-mails be sent.
