Instructor Strikes Student at Sasaguri Junior High School

A male instructor at Sasaguri Town’s junior high school has been accused of physically punishing a student by striking them in the face multiple times. The incident, which occurred during a self-study session, involved the 47-year-old instructor telling noisy students to “be quiet or choose to be hit.” After one student protested, he was hit thrice near the jaw. The student sought medical attention but sustained no injuries.

The incident, confirmed during a press conference by Sasaguri Town’s Board of Education on the 7th, has led to the student’s parents filing a police complaint. The school has placed the instructor, who admitted to the act as a form of reprimand, on home standby since the 6th. This follows a previous incident in April where the instructor was counseled for making harmful remarks to children.

The Board of Education, alongside the prefectural Board of Education, is considering disciplinary action against the instructor. Superintendent Imahase Hiroshi expressed deep regret over the incident, assuring that the board will reinforce guidance and training for staff to improve school management and ensure student safety.
