The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries released the results of its assessment for the extent of opening the controversial floodgates in Isahaya Bay. Each of the three options they examined will result in damage to a certain extent both for the shellfish industry and agriculture. The cost of the countermeasures will range from 8.2 billion yen to 107.7 billion yen. The ministry recommended the switch to well water for agriculture from the water in the regulating ponds.
