Momotaro Jeans Opens First Kyushu Flagship Store in Fukuoka

Japanese denim brand Momotaro Jeans will open its first Kyushu flagship store, Momotaro Jeans Fukuoka, in Daimyo near Kego Intersection on May 15, 2026.

Founded in 2006 in Kojima, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, an area widely regarded as the birthplace of Japanese jeans production, Momotaro Jeans is known for its craftsmanship-driven approach. From fabric development to sewing, all production is carried out in Kojima. The brand now operates in 28 countries and regions worldwide.

The Fukuoka store was designed by architectural unit AS (Jun Aoki and Masatoshi Shinagawa), whose past projects include the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art, Louis Vuitton Ginza Namiki, and Tiffany Ginza.

Behind its understated exterior, the shop features a small courtyard garden with sotetsu cycads inspired by the landscapes of the Setouchi region. The design gently separates the bustle of Kokutai Road from the interior while allowing natural light and airflow to shape a calm, immersive shopping experience.

In recent years, Daimyo has seen a growing number of concept-driven and architecturally distinctive retail spaces opened by both Japanese and international brands. With its proximity to Asia, Fukuoka continues to draw attention as a culturally influential city distinct from Tokyo and Osaka, and this latest opening reflects that broader trend.

To mark the Fukuoka launch, the store will offer an exclusive plum-dyed T-shirt inspired by ume, the official flower of Fukuoka Prefecture.
