Some Kyushu Factories at Full Production


Less than a week after the Tohoku earthquake, Kyushu plants in the pharmaceutical, food products, and energy sectors had increased production for two reasons. The first was to offset the loss of production by companies with plants in the Tohoku area unable to function due to the disaster. The second was to provide the emergency supplies urgently needed by the region. Some plants in the food products industry were at full production, with workers giving up their days off.
