Today, July 14th, marks the opening of the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, inaugurated by Crown Prince Akishino and his wife. The event is expected to attract approximately 2,400 participants from around 200 countries and regions. This is the first time the championship has been held in Japan in 22 years, since the Fukuoka championships in 2001. Originally scheduled for 2021, the World Aquatics Championships were postponed twice due to the pandemic. Now, including the World Masters Swimming Championships which follow the main event, it’s estimated that around half a million people from both within and outside the country will attend. https://www.fukuoka-now.com/en/world-aquatics-2023/
