Hawaiian Eggs’n Things Opens in Fukuoka
This Friday, June 18, the legendary “breakfast anytime” eatery from Waikiki, Hawaii opens a new shop in Daimyo, Tenjin, Fukuoka. “Eggs’n Things” opened 40 years ago in Waikiki and now has two other shops in Honolulu and began expanding in Japan with shops in Harajuku, Kobe, Yokohama, Shonan, Shinsaibashi, Kyoto, and now Tenjin Fukuoka. Signature dishes include pancakes (¥700~1,100), waffles, omelets, egg benedict (¥1,200), and Hawaiian dishes such as loco moco and garlic shrimp will be offered. The interior sports a Hawaiian design motif with seating for 106 including seating on the terrace, table, booth, and bench seats. Fukuoka Now staff joined a pre-open event for local media today and sampled some of the fare. We tried the “Beef Steak’n Eggs” ¥1,400 served with choice of eggs any style, potatoes, rice or toast, and beef steak. Then we tried their famous pancakes, Macadamia nuts pancake with strawberry and a mountain of whipped cream. It’s up to you to add as much or as little maple, guava or coconut syrup. Hint – don’t spend too much time taking photos or the mountain of whipped cream will collapse! As billed, they serve breakfast anytime, but there’s also a “Dinner Menu” with dishes such as Garlic Shrimp, Ahi Poke, Lomi Lomi Salmon, Kalua Pig & cabbage Sandwich, Rare Ahi Steak, Shrimp Jambalaya, and more. One big difference between Eggs’n Things in Hawaii and in Japan is the availability of alcohol. In Hawaii they only serve juices, soft drinks and coffee. Here in Japan there’s a full line up of cocktails and Hawaiian beers – campai!
Open: 9:00~22:30 (last order 21:30)
